How It All Started
The Essence of Harmony Choral Society was born out of a vision to celebrate the richness of choral music while shining a light on composers and arrangers whose voices have historically been underrepresented. Founded by Cherisse R. Bonefont in 2019, the choir began as a small group of singers united by a passion for creating music that uplifts, inspires, and educates. What started as a community of voices gathering to share in song has grown into a thriving choral society dedicated to artistic excellence, diversity, inclusivity, and service through music.

Our Mission
Essence of Harmony Choral Society is committed to a mission rooted in community and artistry. We seek not only to preserve and perform the impactful works of Black composers, spirituals, and gospel hymns, but also to bring people together in a celebration of unity and understanding. Our performances reflect a beautiful blend of cultural traditions and classic masterpieces, creating a rich tapestry of musical expression.
